The story of Restoration Balm
This 175ml tube of Restoration Balm is a reinvention, an evolution of an earlier idea. Like the cassette was to vinyl, the CD to the cassette, Spotify to the CD, evolution, has a tendency to move things along. In this case we went for improved usability, better delivery, and a little aesthetic panache, makes us wonder why we did not do it before.
WHY WE MADE IT
Such is the case with restoration balm mixed perhaps with a little self interest too, previously we had tried to please too many people, tried to answer too many questions, this time we became a little more focused, a little simpler, we made a body moisturiser for ourselves, not for anyone else.
This restoration balm is a bespoke blend of goji oil, kawakawa and dragons blood that desperately seeks parched dry skin on which to lay its cool fragrant touch.
Because anything you rub on your body should feel, well kind of luxurious, erotic, (too far?) ok I’ll stop there. But the point is its meant to feel as good when you apply it as it does once it’s applied.
So some things have not changed, because we love the product as it is, its smell, its silky feel, restoration was always a body balm fit for a Prince, that has not changed.

KEY INGREDIENTS
Kawakawa
--
In Te Reo Māori (New Zealand’s indigenous language) refers to the bitter taste of the leaves, kawa meaning bitter. Also referred to as NZ Pepper Tree, Kawakawa is one of the most important plants in Rongoā ( traditional Māori medicine), used externally for cuts, wounds and bruises and applied as a treatment for toothache, nettle stings and eczema due to its natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. We use it for much the same properties, to treat scalp and calm heads.
Goji Oil
--
Legend has it, Buddhist monks discovered Goji berries roaming the Tibetan mountains. These little berries pack a big punch because they are loaded full of nutrients that abound in natural benefits for enhancing human skin. Classified as a “Superior Tonic”, Goji promotes general well being and supports new skin cell growth. Rich in Vitamin C to protect from free radical damage and heal damaged skin. Apart from anything else, when applied it feels fantastic, silky smooth.

Dragons Blood
--
Throughout much of the Amazon rainforest, Dragon’s Blood, called both Sangre de Drago and Sangre de Grado, is the primary topical aid for just about anything bad that can happen to skin. Cuts, bites, burns, stings, rashes, abrasions, sores, and wounds and skin insults of all kinds benefit from application of the healing red latex of this tree. So apart from having the coolest name of any ingredient on the planet it is also delivers big time when it comes to treating the skin. Our Dragons Blood is sourced from sustainable farms, (trees are milked not cut down), and our supplier belongs to the Apolpawa Association, a Fairtrade organization set up to ensure the ongoing sustainability of this wonder ingredient.
So restoration balm,
‘it longs to feel the gentle caress of skin on skin, its natural, silky touch calmly taming the surface of your body, while the subtle aroma of sandalwood and neroli gently intoxicates the moment with a mystical combination of sweetness and wood’.
